It is very difficult to cover this entire large topic. In this assignment I have made effort to bring forth certain basic information on the religion Buddhism . The main agenda of this assignment is to give certain knowledge about the prevalence of Buddhism and Buddhist culture in Assam from an ancient time and its present state in Assam. While analyzing the international and domestic challenges that the United States faced while Richard Nixon was in the office there were plenty of things that showed Nixons negative aspects, but also his positive aspects. Richard Nixon came into the office during a very difficult time, not only were there international problems but also back at home there was lots of issues, Nixon did an exceptional job dealing with the foreign issues, but not as well dealing with the international issues, for instance he is remembered especially for his watergate scandal, along with his dealing with the economy in a negative way, but positively for his international relations with both China and Vietnam. Before Nixon came into office, the Vietnam war had been going on for nearly 10 years; his main promise as a president was to end the war peacefully. He came up with a process called Vietnamization where he would slowly be taking out American troops, while simultaneously training the South Vietnamese to fight their own battle. It took about 3 years, but in 1973 Nixon had removed all troops and signed an agreement with South Vietnam. When Nixon entered the office as president, he had lots of promises he planned on keeping and more. From the beginning he had said that he wanted â€Å"peace with honor† talking about the Vietnam war. He planned on doing this with a process called Vietnamization. In Document B, it shows a letter written by Nixon to Ho Chi Minh early into his presidency, showing his first step to peace. Nixon also understands that the Americans don’t understand the point of this war, the fact that we are fighting a war for a different country doesn’t make any sense. Therefore, in Document D, it shows how he is asking the people of the country for support on the war, because he can’t end the war without the support of the people. Also, besides the process of Nixon ending the war and Vietnamization, he was simultaneously strengthening our relations with China. Nixon was the first president ever to visit the Peoples Republic of China. His reasoning behind doing this was because he sees the United States, USSR, China, Western Europe, and Japan as the world powers, and if they were all able to interact it would be profitable for the entire world. Before Nixon was president, when we was running he said â€Å"We simply cannot afford to leave China outside the family of nations†. This shows that he understood the importance of having this interaction with China, and it was a very impressive accomplishment that he was able to create a relationship with China for the first time in a very long time (American Experience). Lastly, in Document F, Nixon’s second inaugural speech, he is discussing the new era of peace they have reached. At this point he has gained relationships in Russia, along with China, and nearly ended the war in Vietnam. This shows all of the progress he got through in two years. Clearly, Nixon was a very good international negotiator, and did a great deal of work on that aspect. Another big thing that Nixon had to deal with while president was the economy. From when Nixon started in office, to when he resigned, the inflation nearly doubled. While, at the same time the unemployment rate was increasing, this was known as stagflation. In Richard Nixon’s first acceptance speech, he speaks of how we are the worlds strongest nation, however the richest nation [United States] is tied down in a war, without end at sight, as well as us not being able to manage our economy, he believed it was time for change; change to him as the leader (Document A). Economically, however, Nixon didn’t do a great job dealing with it, partly because he put 80% of his time dealing with international issues, not leaving a lot of time to handle the economy back home. On a chart shown in Document C, it shows the price in food, the price of fuel, and price of transportation from 1968 to 1976. From the start of his presidency in 1968, the prices were low, therefore showing the prices before the inflation began. Next, in 1974 near the end of Nixon’s presidency the prices have nearly doubled, showing the inflation with picture proof. Finally, in Document H, Nixon has to address the nation because it was running out of heating oil, he had to close down gas stations and had to request no more long distance travels, because the relations in the middle east weren’t at its peak to say the least. Overall, Nixon had a lot of struggles economically, because he was putting a lot of his time into his international problems, instead of worrying about the domestic problems. Another big issue that was dealt with was the scandal that put Nixon out of office, Watergate. Nixon is mainly remembered for not only being the only president to resign from office, but for the secrets he kept from the people of the United States throughout his presidency. The first secret he kept, was the bombing of Cambodia, which in the end he did end the war so people forgave him from that mistake. However, when new came out of the Watergate Scandal, people were all over it. In Document I a journalist is discussing all of the secrecy from the Cambodia bombing to the Watergate Scandal, he was talking about how the anger came from so much of Nixon’s decisions being kept private, and then when one surfaced they all surfaced. The Watergate break in happened in 1972, therefore with about 2 years of investigation Nixon was being attacked with rumors and hatred, and tried to clean his name, which in a sense made him look more guilty. In the image shown in Document G, it emphasises Nixon as a lone guy, while the people and media are a huge scary animal, and Nixon clearly has something they want. The tapes, which contained most of the evidence of this, Nixon had in his hand. He tried to clear them, and when the supreme court took them from him, there were blank spots in them, being cleared was a guilty sign of Nixon. He tried to clear his name, by having new tapes, shown in the image, that he was offering to the dog so that the dog would take them and his hunger would be satisfied, but they [people of United States] new what they wanted. Nixon took the brave decision to resign before the case could be brought on trial. Anyways, this is another example of Nixon’s not so good job of domestic issues, which led him to have to resign from the presidency. With the many international and domestic challenges that Nixon was faced to deal with, it’s clear that he did a much better job internationally than he did domestically. If it weren’t for the few scandals that he got into back home, he could have been remembered as the great president that improved our relations with China, as well as got us out of the war through his tactic of ‘Vietnamization’.

The aggressor army would position itself to attack its opponent. Once the aggressor had both its artillery and archery units in place, it would open fire on the enemy. During the attack, it was essential for the infantrymen stay in their ranks and maintain the line. The line consisted of three rows of infantrymen. The front line would fire their weapons and kept the fire going while the other two lines reloaded. After the front line had fired, it would shift to the back. They simply lifted their gun high enough to hit the other line and fired. This would continue as long as necessary to weaken the enemy to the point of bayonet charge. The bayonet charge would finish off the enemy as it usually scattered their forces off the field. This methodical technique was clearly developed to allow time for the infantrymen to re-load their slow, awkward weapons. These low speed guns made this type of battle appropriate. The introduction of the Winchester repeating rifle signaled the beginning of the end to the effectiveness of this style of warfare. The Winchester repeaters got one of their first combat experiences during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877. The Turks were greatly outnumbered when the Russians attacked the town of Plevna. The battle started in July of 1877 when the Russians attacked. The Turks, who were encamped with their American made Winchester Repeating rifles, stood their ground against the far superior Russians. The Turks cut down over eight thousand of the Russians in the first major battle. The siege of the town went on for nearly six months, and was not over until the Turkish commander gave up because they were not getting re-supplied . The repeating rifles proved though that traditional warfare would not continue to work. A much larger army, which in Napoleons day was believed necessary to win, had essentially failed. These weapons were advanced even farther to become more accurate, stronger and generally easier to use and load. This is much the reason that the Gatling gun, the predecessor to the machine gun, was invented. This was invented in 1862 during the American Civil War. With the invention of brass cartridge Gatling felt he could make a gun that fired at a high rate. He mounted ten barrels on a rotating piece, which as it was turned, loaded, fired and unloaded the barrels automatically. For example, note the change in meaning of fly in the following sentences: â€Å"He caught a fly† (noun), â€Å"He caught a fly ball† (adjective), â€Å"He will fly there tonight† (verb), and â€Å"He caught the ball on the fly† (part of an adverbial phrase). These and other types of functional variation are described below: 1. Nouns as Adjectives Nouns are frequently employed to modify other nouns (for example, in â€Å"light fixture,† â€Å"grape jam,† and â€Å"railroad track†). However, problems include ambiguous usage, such as in the phrase â€Å"box set,† which can mean â€Å"a set in a box† (and is therefore better rendered â€Å"boxed set†) or â€Å"a set of boxes,† and adjective stacking, or employing an excessive series of nouns as adjectives. 2. Adjectives as Nouns The reverse can take place, as when a phrase such as â€Å"a hypothetical situation† is truncated to the adjective turned noun hypothetical or when a person or a group is identified, for example, as in â€Å"the homeless.† 3. Nouns as Verbs This type of transformation is ubiquitous in the business world and in other jargon-friendly environments, where terms for things such as impact, mainstream, and text become action words. 4. Verbs as Nouns Present participles such as laughing are employed as nouns: In â€Å"Who was laughing?† laughing is a verb; however, it’s a noun in â€Å"Did you hear that laughing?† (although it would be better to use the noun laughter). 5. Verbs as Adjectives Participles also serve as adjectives. To use the previous example, laughing can also modify a noun, as in â€Å"See that laughing girl?† (although one could also write, â€Å"See that girl laughing?†). 6. Adjectives as Verbs Such shifts are so rare that the only ones that occur to me are terms I occasionally use in these posts: lowercase and uppercase, as in â€Å"Lowercase job titles after a name,† in which lowercase refers to an action involving job titles, rather than describing a type of treatment of a job title. 7. Prepositions as Adverbs When one refers, for example, to â€Å"calling up reserves† or â€Å"casting off from the dock,† one is using idiomatic phrasal verbs to describe how calling or casting occurs, though some phrasal verbs are merely figurative; â€Å"calling up,† for example, involves no upward movement, while â€Å"casting off† literally results in one no longer being on the dock. 8. Conjunctions as Prepositions In rare cases, a conjunction can serve as a preposition, as when but, which usually functions as a conjunction, as in â€Å"I was there, but I didn’t see you,† is employed as a synonym for except, as in â€Å"Everyone but you has agreed.† 9. Various Parts of Speech as Interjections Most parts of speech can serve as an interruptive or exclamatory term, including nouns (â€Å"Dude!†), pronouns (â€Å"Me!), verbs (â€Å"See?†), adjectives (â€Å"Wonderful!†), and adverbs (â€Å"Slowly!†). (Superstore Collapse) The faults were adding up and pointed to a general disregard for building codes and safety, but there was still no definite answer for what caused the collapse until a reengineering discovery was made. Three 1 5-ton air conditioning units on the roof (which was of insufficient width to hold that much weight) (Mclean, Anderson, Petersen, Del voice) had been re-positioned some 2 years earlier. Standard practice would have been to hire professionals with expensive cranes to lift the units, and gently set them down into their new positions, but in order to cut costs, they were placed on rollers and dragged across the roof. (Mclean, Anderson, Petersen, Del voice) This caused an enormous amount of weight to shift across the whole roof, causing tress, fractures and huge visible cracks throughout the concrete slab. After they were dragged across the insufficient roof, huge fractures in the slab should have warned Sampson executives that they had a problem, but instead of taking action, they simply ignored the huge structural flaw for 2 years. For 2 years, every time the air conditioning units turned on, workers reported feeling the whole building vibrate; Hess vibrations caused the cracks in the roof and 5th floor slab to widen around the MIS-aligned columns. But what about your essay? How does your essay score compare to everyone else? There's no percentile information for that in the score report. What’s an Average SAT Essay Score? First, a quick reminder about how SAT essays are scored: two graders score each SAT essay on a scale of 1-4 across three different dimensions: Reading Analysis Writing Summed together, this means your score can range between 2 and 8 for each area. There is no longer one single "total" SAT essay score, just Reading, Analysis, and Writing essay scores. Logically, it would seem that the average SAT essay score in each domain should be a 5 (since that's halfway between 2 and 8). The most recent SAT essay score data bears this out except when it comes to the Analysis dimension. The average SAT essay score for students graduating high school in 2018 was 5 out of 8 for Reading, 4 out of 8 for Analysis, and 5 out of 8 for Writing (source: CollegeBoard 2018 Total Group Report). To get a better idea of how frequently different essay scores were assigned, I created several different SAT essay score distribution charts that show how many students got each essay score for Reading, Analysis, and Writing. The data in this first chart shows the distribution of scores across all three dimensions for students who graduated high school in 2018. Let's separate these scores out into separate graphs, starting with Reading and Writing essay scores. Distribution of SAT Essay Reading Scores for the 2018 Graduating Class Distribution of SAT Essay Writing Scores for the 2018 Graduating Class If you compare the graphs for the distribution of Reading and Writing scores, you'll see a striking similarity between them when it comes to how many students got each score on Reading and Writing. There's a huge drop-off from the middle range of scores (4-6) to the upper and lower ends of the scale, and by far most students get a 6/8 in these areas. Because so many people score towards the middle on SAT Essay Reading and Writing scores, it's safe to say that if you score a 3 or below, your essay score is definitely lower than average; if you score a 5-6, your score is pretty average; and if you score a 7 or above, your score is significantly higher than average. Things are a little murkier when it comes to the Analysis essay scores. Let's take a look. Distribution of SAT Essay Analysis Scores for the 2018 Graduating Class In contrast to the trend for Reading and Writing scores, Analysis scores are heavily skewed toward the bottom of the scale. Even though the average Analysis score for 2018 was a 4 out of 8 (which is towards the middle), the Analysis score the most students received was 2 out of 8. Why did so many students score lower on Analysis, while still managing to do okay on Reading and Writing? The most likely answer is that the Analysis dimension is the part of the SAT essay task that is most different from what students have had to do on other standardized test essays. Instead of giving their opinion on the passage in the SAT essay prompt, students are asked to analyze the author's opinion. While this analysis is pretty straightforward once you manage to wrap your mind around it, it is very different from what students had to do on the old SAT essay (and what students are still asked to do on the ACT essay) and other standardized essays like DBQs. Because of the different trends for Analysis scores on the SAT essay, an Analysis score of a 6 or above puts you well above average; a score of 3-5 is solidly middle of the pack; and a score of 2 is low. If you did get a 2/8 Analysis score, the good news is that you can most likely boost it to at least a 4 (if not a 6 or higher) by reviewing these 15 SAT essay tips. When colleges look at your SAT scores, however, they usually won't look at your essay scores all by themselves. Most schools look at your overall SAT score first, your Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and Math scores next, and your essay scores last (if they care about your SAT essay scores at all). This leads into my next point... How Much Does My Essay Score Matter? Because your essay score no longer affects your Writing section score on the SAT, the importance of the SAT Essay has decreased significantly. More and more schools are dropping the requirement for students to submit SAT with Essay scores entirely, and schools that do require the SAT Essay often place much less importance on your essay score than on your other SAT scores. Still, there are highly competitive programs and schools that use SAT scores to place students in the appropriate level classes that require students to submit SAT Essay scores. For these kinds of schools, while your SAT essay score still won't matter as much as almost any other part of your application, you'll still want to aim for a high enough score that you're not immediately disqualified (or so that you don't get bumped down into remedial writing). So what's the average SAT essay score you should target for more competitive schools? Our advice is to aim for at least a 6 out of 8 on Reading, Analysis, and Writing. Higher essay scores (particularly on the Analysis dimension) are even better, but a 6 out of 8 shows that you have above-average writing skills on a standardized essay written at the end of a multi-hour test. In cases where admissions offices might wonder if your application's personal statement was a fluke, your SAT essay scores can confirm that you do have a certain level of writing ability. And the SAT essay rubric requirements to get a 6 out of 8 on each section are a pretty reasonable minimum standard for colleges to expect students to meet. The book ended when he died, so that should be in the year 1977. It quite easy actually to determine, because of the books first line: Garps mother, Jenny Fields, was arrested for wounding a man in a movie theater. Altogether the story takes about 35 years. The story is set in a couple of different places. It starts of in the US, when Garp is at Steering school, where his mother is head nurse. When he graduates from Steering, he decides to go to Austria, to develop himself as a writer. He lives in Vienna for about 1 or 2 years. Then he returns to the US. Their he decides he finally wants to marry the love of his live, Helen. For quite some time he lives with Helen, in a house of their own. The exact location isnt known. When the accident happens (for a precise description: see the summary), they go to live with Jenny, who is taking care of them at that moment. You learn a lot about the different characters, what kind of people they are, and what theyre capable of. So maybe thats the message: people arent all bad, except some. You should always be aware of the dangers ahead. Thats what eventually killed Garp. But still, I think the author wrote this book to entertain people. He always making fun of characters, or making a quick little joke. I dont think he wrote it to learn the reader something. Its not that kind of story. The story ends with Garps death. Before he was murdered, the narrator says things like: If he noticed it, he might have prevented it. So he should have seen the danger ahead. He should have noticed something was wrong. Your Opinion Well of course, Garp is the most sympathetic character in the story. Besides him, Helen is always considered sympathetic by the narrator. So these two are the (main) characters, that I found the most sympathetic. Garp is a very humoristic man, but also a loving father and husband. He always good towards others, willingly to help someone if necessary. Helen is a somewhat strange woman. Is diffecult to explain in what way. Maybe she doesnt really show her emotions. But still, she is always kind and nice to others. The most unsympathetic characters are Pooh Percy and Mrs Ralph in my opinion. Pooh Percy is quite obvious: she kills Garp for some ridiculous reason. She jealous at him, therefore thinks her problems will be solved by killing him. Mrs Ralph is a lot less obvious. Her attitude isnt that of an unsympathetic person. But still, she neglects her son Ralph, and tries to get Garp in trouble by seducing him. Shes full of self-pity, and tries to get advantage out of others. When I read the story I was constantly surprised. You really dont know whats going to happen. Garp as a person is unpredictable, but his environment might be even more unpredictable. Thats an important element for the story, because it inflicts on Garps personal life. On the other hand, the story is full of humor. Not only jokes that Garp makes, but also events that take place. Irving writes with a great ironic tone in his story, which I consider is brilliant. My favorite part of the book is where Garp is trying to catch the child molester. The child was raped in the park by a man with a mustache, so Garp went of and soon he saw a man with a mustache: Garp yelled at the figure, an elderly gentleman with a white mustache, who looked over his shoulder at Garp with an expression so surprised and ashamed that Garp was sure hed found the child molester. He thundered through the vines and small, whiplike trees to the man, who had been peeing and was hastening to fold himself back into his trousers. He looked very much like a man caught doing something he shouldnt have done. I was justà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦ the man began, but Garp was upon him and thrust his stiff, cropped beard into the mans face. Garp sniffed him over like a hound. If its you, you bastard, I can smell it on you! Garp said. Funny thing is, that the man wasnt involved in the rape at all. He was just taking a leak over there. Irving did make me aware of certain things, that I probably already knew before I read the book. The world is unpredictable, you dont know what lies ahead. This novel is a great example of what can happen. This message becomes clear by the storyline in the novel, but also by the short stories that Garp wrote. They are strange, especially the world according to Bensenhaver. This is a great example of strange things that can happen to you. But if this message is important? I dont really know. It probably is, but you dont learn this kind of ethics by reading a book. I gained by gaining more experience in life, not by reading a book. If I could ask Irving a couple of questions, It would be these: how did you manage it to make up such a story, where everything is unpredictable but afterwards explainable? Because thats the strength of the novel. Afterwards everything makes sense. Every event is for the sake of the novel. I would like to know if it was all Irvings imagination or he did it otherwise. why didnt you make the story that long? Garp writes a second novel, called Second Wind of the Cuckold, the success of it is smaller than that of his first novel, and Helen takes on a second job. Their friends, the Fletchers, have marital problems and the Garps try to help them. But this doesnt really work out. For a while, Garp is involved with Alice and Helen with Harrison Fletcher. Jenny introduces them to Roberta Muldoon, she used to be a man and a famous football player but she got surgery and now shes a woman, and Jennys bodyguard. Theres a woman called Jillsy Sloper, she cleans Johns office and he often gives her a novel to criticize it. She reads Garps new book and she doesnt like it but she isnt able to put it away and finishes it, something she rarely does, so John decides to publish the book anyway. John writes the jackets of the book himself and is afraid that Garp wont approve them. He is also affraid of bad reviews and he advices the Garps to go on a holiday abroard.They decide to go to Vienna and they have a great time there, until Roberta calls them to tell that Jenny Fields got killed, someone shot her. The Garps fly immediately back home. The funeral that is organised for Jenny will be the first feminist funeral ever, and not even Garp is allowed to come, but Roberta dresses him in womens clothes to make sure no-one will recognise him. But Bainbridge Percy, Cushies younger sister recognises him anyway. She accuses him of murdering her sister. Garp runs away and takes the next plane home. On the plane he meets the real Ellen James. She lost her parents a little while ago and she was on her way to see Jenny Fields. Garp allows her to come and live with his family. When he is back at steerings, the dean tells him that both Stewart Percy and Helens father have just died. The Garps decide to stay at Steering. Helen will teach and Garp will be the new wrestler coach. Jennys house is turned into a foundation supporting all women with problems that is runned by Roberta.. Garp wants to keep the Ellen Jamesians out of the house because he thinks theyre insane. One day Garp is training with his wrestling team in the gym. The first type of Organization is creating in which people says â€Å"having organization highlighting with the change, alteration and organic processes of culture† (Cameron, Kim S. and Quinn, Robert). But in Corporate Culture first type which was core it says â€Å"it is more about values that are untouchable and acutely fixed with the ideologies that lead an employer’s† (Mary J. Davis). Rendering the second type of Organization Culture is control (hierarchy).It says that to share connections with the conventionally large, administrative corporation (Cameron, Kim S. and Quinn, Robert). Nevertheless second Corporate Culture type â€Å"aspirational† it says that those values that a company needs to succeed (Mary J. Davis). According to the third type of Organizational Culture is â€Å"compete (market)†. It is related to relationships, transactions, suppliers, unions, etc. (Cameron, Kim S. and Quinn, Robert). But in the Corporat e Culture type â€Å"permission to play† it relates with lowest negotiating that reflects morals required of any employee (Mary J.Davis). In the fourth type of Organizational Culture which is collaborating. It says that it is more about accentuating suppleness and decision rather than constancy and mechanism of Control and Compete (Cameron, Kim S. and Quinn, Robert). On the other hand the fourth type of Corporative Culture style which is accidental. It says that it can hold the time when beliefs rise (Mary J. Davis). We have discussed two Cultures of a company in detail with their types. So now they depend on person choice that weather he wants to apply Organizational Culture or Corporate Culture in his company.An Organizational culture can bring changes to the policies while a Corporative Culture brings physical changes in people only. Vermont). Mobile phone are the another technology as gift of the science. As compared to computers the use of mobile are also common. In past time sometimes you forget your watch. So mobile helped to remove the wristwatch because you can forget your watch but cannot forget your mobile. It acts like your dairy. You can put as much notes as you want. You can call anyone at any time. It’s give you reminder which helps you to wake up in the morning. Calculat or and other extra options are also given to make your work easier.But mobiles now a day are creating problems (Adam Burgess). Cell phones are the part of everyday life for many people. Children, teenagers and adults have different kinds of uses of it. Adults use to stay in touch with business contact. But children, teenagers use to talk or send messages which are not necessary at the moment. In fact, if somebody has a nonstop use of it so they can cause headaches, brain tumors and other effects on health. Science and technology holds the advantages as well as disadvantages too. It may have transformed our life in modern life. Improve our way of living, public welfares, health and security. Brought many changes in our life but it has also made our life short.
